A Brand New Mum

Yes, mummy has become a brand new mum since last month but not the mum to my siblings. Is a mum to our new maid, "Yes, Mam". Her name is Sophy and she is 22 years old. She is from Cambodia and has working experience there for 1 year plus as a maid. Her weight is 58.9kg. Initially mummy didn't want to take her when she was considering her based on her profile also because of her weight as mummy afraid that she is a big fat.

Mummy started sourcing for a maid in July 2010 because she wanted to look for a helper to help Ah-ma to do some house works and to take care of me and didi during night times because mummy and daddy alway come back very late. Besides that, this helper also can help us to do some house works during weekend too. Ah-yee has recommended an agent to mummy. On that day, mummy at first went to another agent just to do little bit of surveys before going to this recommended agent. In this first agent, a lot of ready maids were there for mummy to choose. Mummy and daddy got the chance to directly interview the ready maids there. This is indeed a good idea of that agent to do that in order to attract more customers. But mummy didn't hire maid here because mummy still afraid that these maids were problematic maids or rejected maids and the fees charged by this agent is more expensive than the market rate.

Then mummy headed to the recommended agent. Mummy and daddy really scratched their heads to choose their favourite maid. At last they have chosen Sophy because of her working experience and available within a month time. Usually we need to wait about 3 months for a maid to reach here but this is because Sophy has been chosen by another employer but cancelled as that employer's previous maid has decided to stay on.

And there mummy picked Sophy on 19 Aug 2010 (Thursday). She has now worked for us for two weeks plus. Overall, mummy said that she is ok. Like a normal human being, she has her own strengths and weaknesses too. She is very good in doing houseworks, very detailed and clean so not very fast, she is very obedient too, she loves cooking as well but lacks of experience in taking care of kids, she is hardworking too but sometimes no so 'seng muk' on what to do. She is rated in the acceptable range and if the minority of weaknesses changed, she can be rated in very good range. So, mummy and daddy have decided to talk to Sophy about her little weaknesses and highlight her strength as well in this coming weekend. I believe kakak Sophy will change and do better after the discussion as she is an obedient person. Jia you kakak, you can do the best.

Star Student of the Month of May 2010

This morning mummy sent me to school as usual. But unlike some of the Thursdays, if daddy is around, then both of them will send me to school together. Today daddy is still in China and he will be back by tomorrow evening. Usually mummy and I will left the house at 7:45am and we can reach school at about 8:15am. But today we left at 7:55am because didi has woke up and he is sick so he clinged on mummy for awhile and therefore our time has delayed a bit.

The school bell rings at 8:15am. When we reached there just now was 8:25am. Then mummy saw the kids are queuing up at the assembly area. So, mummy quickly helped me to put on my school bag and asked me to careful run to the assembly area. While I running towards there, I saw my teacher running towards me too. Mummy felt strange too and also stunned there for awhile. My teacher then quickly led me to the front of the assembly and put me up to stand on the stool with some other children who have probably stood there for few minutes.

Within seconds right after I joined the row of children who are standing at the front, other children and teacher begin to cheer for the slogan "yeahX5 (with their hands raising up and down) ... star students". By that time, mummy and I only discovered that I was awarded for the star student of the month of May. Mummy then used her phone to record it down but mummy has missed the shot for the cheers session and also mummy did not zoomed it before recording, so the video is not clear and can hardly see which one is me. Teacher Joseph has taken a photo of the group of star students too and it will be posted on the board.

The second video is when I went back to the queue after the award session. Mummy said I was so happy after I came back to the queue but looked shock when standing in front. Few of my classmates touched my star student badge that the teacher clipped on my shirt and I was really so happy at that time.

Mummy was awarded two weeks ago and today I was awarded as the star student, so called similar occasions and I think that is why it actified mummy to post this. Good, at least mummy can clear some spider webs grown on this blog for the past few months.

My 3rd Birthday

I have just celebrated my birthday for 3 years old last week. This year celebration was very special to me as I have cut total of 4 birthday cakes and they are all in different designs.

As I have started my kindy school this year, my parents then prepared a simple celebration for me at school. At first mummy thought that I am the eldest kid in my class but after she saw the Birthday Chart posted on the wall in my class then only she discovered that I am the 2nd eldest. This chart is very useful as it stated the birthday dates for all the kids in my class. Thus, mummy quickly took a photo of the chart, so that she has the list of names of my classmates to write on the goodies bag. The actual day for my birthday was on 16 Jan but it fall on Saturday which is not a school day for me and there I celebrated with my classmates on Friday but mummy has to inform my class tearcher before hand.
On Friday morning, my parents send me to school and brought the cake and the goodies bag for my classmates. Parents are not allowed to stay in the class after the 3rd day opening of schooling day. Then mummy passed the camera to my class teacher and told her to take some pictures during the celebration and to help me to distribute the goodies bag to my friend.

Then come to the celebration with daddy's family members, ah-gong, ah-ma, dua-guo and her children and li-guo too.

On my actual day, it was also the same birth date for Sandra too, the younger daughter of aunty Stephanie. She had her 1st birthday party in the afternoon on that day and actually I was invited to join the party too but due to some reasons I was unable to attend and mummy then brought di-di to join the party.

At night, we then celebrated with mummy's family members and they are po-po, gong-gong, ah yee's family and gao-fu.

Lastly, I also celebrated my birthday at an orphanage home, the Sunbeams Home located nearby ah gong and ah ma's house at Taman Mawar. This was planned and arranged by mummy to buy them a cake and give them the goodies bag. In fact, daddy has visited this home for few times and gave them some education learning stuff to them before. Daddy has mentioned this to mummy too but mummy has never visited them before. Therefore, mummy took this opportunity to see them during my this year birthday.

There have 3 houses for the kids under this Sunbeams at this area. The house that we first entered is for the girls with the total of 26 of them. We also went to the 2nd house linked with this first house which is for the boys age 3 to 12 years old with the total of 16 of them. We didn't manage to visit the 3rd house which is for the elder boys age 13 and above.

After visited them, what did mummy sees from there is the kids there are very cheerful despite their situation and some of them are very obedient too. The kids can make us appreciate what we are having now. As we busy hase after our goals everyday, we must not forget to stop and appreciate the simple things in our life.

After that day, I have been asking mummy to bring me to there again as I love playing with them. Mummy then told me that definitely we will be seeing them again soon.

Roan is Walking

About few weeks ago, Roan has started to get himself up from squatting to standing position without support. But then he just cruising around and not really walking yet. Slowly about one week ago, he then started to brave himself to move from one position to another with the distance of one or two steps.

At first we can still see him very cautious while taking his steps but after he has tried few times, he then became so brave and clumsy to walk more steps. And from last weekend onwards, he walks more than he crawls. Roan can walk now. Although the steps are not steady yet but he can start walking at about 13months old which is much earlier than me who walked at 18months old. So nice, I can ask di-di to run with me for the coming cny.

1st Day at School

I think almost all the school kids start their 1st schooling day in 2010 on 4 Jan but I started mine on 7 Jan at Fun Kids. They set the first day on 4 Jan for 5 and 6 years old students and 7 Jan for 3 and 4 years old students. I guessed this was a good arrangement too as they have about nearly 200 students there. If all these students start on the same day, it might be a real mad day for them.

Learning Time

Meal Time

In fact, we are having orientation week from 7 Jan till 15 Jan. In this orientation week, the school time is from 8:30am to 11am. Then on 18 Jan onwards, the school time is from 8:15am to 11:45am. The toys and tools are the main things that Fun Kids use for teaching.

Christmas Dinner

On Christmas Day, we went out together for a simple dinner which includes daddy, mummy, di-di, me, ah-ma, ah-gong, sa-guo (daddy's 3rd sis) and sa yi-zhang, cousin Tun Seng and Tun Xin. We had dinner at Serdang as our family and sa-guo's family are nearby there, so it would be much easier for us with kids to go there. We seldom have time to play with Tun Seng and Tun Xin because they are staying in Singapore and they will only come back about once in a month. Mummy said my both cousins are much more quite than di-di and me.

Actually we are not used to take photos when we went out for dining, but this time mummy simply took out her camera to snap some photos before the meal.

The first who asked to pose are Ah-ma and Ah-gong

See, I have gone down from my high chair before the meal started

After the dinner, we went to sa-guo's house for awhile. Again mummy quickly took out her camera to snap some photos and mummy was hoping that they all won't think that this is weird to do so.

Looked like I was enjoying watching something...

Di-di was so happily playing with Tun-Xin's walker

Then, what else, I can't just sit here doing nothing. So, I asked Tun Seng to run here and there with me while di-di also running around the house with the walker. Here is a short video clip captured by mummy while we were playing.

Looking forward to see you all again during chinese new year.

My Last Day with VY Class

On 23 Dec 2009, was my last schooling day with VY. Daddy purposely sent me to class that day to see my classmates and take some pictures. I could not take picture with all my classmates as some of them were not in yet when daddy took this photo.

I have joined this class since beginning of July 2009 and now I have to stop because I will be joining a kindy next year. This class is like an enrichment class for me to learn English. After these 5 months study in this class, I can read quite a number of English words and I can include some wordings in my conversation too. I do not know all of the names of my classmates and so far I only know Richie Lim.

As my last day there, was near Christmas and New Year day too, mummy has prepared some gifts for my friends. I passed the gifts to them and I got back a contact from one of them. I will try to keep in touch with you, Yong.

Hope to see you all again.

Roan at his 1st Birthday

Well, daddy and mummy didn't organize a big party for Roan same like my 1st year Birthday. On 17 Dec 2009, we celebrated with just a cake cutting ceremony at ah-ma and ah-gong's house. Daddy's elder sister's family couldn't join us because they have zoomed to Penang early morning that day for their short family trip. They didn't bring along their maid and there we asked the maid to join us as well. Her name is Rika. Mummy always said that she is very helpful and ah-ma also agreed with that but ah-ma said that sometimes she has bad temper too. She is leaving us probably in Feb or Mar next year. Hopefully the new maid is good too so that ah-ma will have helpful hands after that.

Before the cake cutting, mummy remembered that she heard from somewhere, if we put few things in a basin and let the birthday kid to take, then the thing that he/she first chose represents his/her future career. Just to add fun to that day, mummy then grabbed a scissor, a ruler, a pen, a ladle, a bottle of vitamin and a syringe and dumped all into a basin. Click the video to see what he chose.

video

Then we took some photos, sang birthday song and cut the cake.

I love singing the birthday song because I have learnt this from my school.

On the actual day, 19 Dec 2009, we then celebrated at po-po and gong-gong's house together with mummy's sister family. So, today onwards didi who has reached 1 year old now can wear shoe and eat cake. But the first time experience for him to wear shoe was not a pleasant one. He kept pulling his socks and shoes after we put them on his feets. See how he hates them.

These are my cousins. Eldest Joe Yee, 2nd Kit Yee and youngest Sin Yee.
